One rainy day in September, I rounded a bend during a trail run high above the valley and was rewarded with this view. The rain had let up but the storm clouds remained suspended above Mt. Crested Butte, casting the nooks and crannies of Gothic valley in deep shadow. It was so beautiful I screamed and promptly frightened a herd of grazing cows. This painting is part of the Gothic trio series.
